CCA
Project Gallery presented a new work by Jimmie Durham.
In Europe Durham has been doing work with stone in various ways,
as a counter-point to the European use of stone as architecture and
monument.
He perceives stone as more of a tool than a monument, and as George
Bataille, he is ," against architecture.,"
At CCA, with a work called ,"Stoneheart,," Durham tried
to combine his ,"ongoing work with stone as tool, with the Japanese
understanding that stone contains spirit and light.,"
Jimmie Durham stayed at CCA Kitakyushu as a professor of the Research
Program during a month in October, 2000.
